   WHY HEARING SCREENINGS ARE FREE

Purpose of offering free exams

Access to audiology and hearing aid services has become increasingly difficult for older people because of managed care and limitations concerning Medicare coverage. We make the first step to receiving appropriate care simple by offering free initial exams.

What is included in the free hearing exam?

A review of your hearing and health history, otomicroscopy, air and bone threshold testing, speech audiometry, tympanometry and reflexes, as necessary to determine the nature and degree of hearing impairment.

Who is eligible for this service?

Everyone is eligible for a free initial exam, with a few exceptions.   The primary exception is for patients requesting a report of audiometric results to be sent to another professional.

What if there is a medical problem?

If a medical problem is detected, we will inform you. You will be referred to your primary care physician for appropriate medical attention. Fortunately, more than ninety percent of all hearing loss cases have no underlying medical condition.

What if I request a narrative report?

If a report of the findings is necessary, we normally charge $35.00.

What if I have questions?

Call with questions you may have concerning hearing loss or hearing aids. Or if you would like to find out if you or someone you know may have a problem with hearing, call for an appointment for this free hearing exam offer.  That's why it's free.
