Gene is married to Mary Purinsh, DDS.    Gene and Mary met in high school, both graduating in the first class from Coronado High School in Colorado Springs in 1971.

Gene may not be a native (He was born in Spencer Iowa and moved to Colorado at the age of 12).  Gene's parents were Mac and Marian McHugh who were active in local community groups.

Mary IS a true native and grew up on the west side.  Her parents were Alex and Emma Purinsh.

Gene and Mary were married in 1976.  They have always loved the westside and now reside in the wonderful community of Manitou Springs.

Mary is a general practice DENTIST and has been in private practice since  For a period of time, when first starting her practice, Mary was the only female dentist in Colorado Springs, so she was kind of a pioneer.  Her first office was located for 30 years in the Old Colorado City area.

Mary received her BA with honors in Chemistry from the University of Northern Colorado in 1975 and DDS degree from the University of Iowa in 1979.

In her spare time, she is an artist, chef and beer maker.  For more information about Dr. Purinsh (Mary), go to drpurinsh.com

In 2011, Gene and Mary purchased the building shown below and now have their practices in the same location.  Called the "Dent Audio Building" the inside is all new with the latest technical and design features.  Why the Westside? Gene and Mary grew up on the Westside and their intent was to bring investment and professional services to the classic westside of Colorado Springs.  According to comments from patients, parking, handicap access and just a feeling of welcomeness is the nicest part of the DENTAUDIO building.

Until the end of 2015 Gene sang with three very talented acapella musician's

Kristi Gilbreth, Amy Sue Lambert and Jim Sena

Below is Broadmoor Harmony in their Victorian costumes performing at the Broadmoor Hotel during Christmas time.

They had been singing together since 1998.
